Jewelry design competition by Royal Stone and the Museum of Independence
Date: October 2015
Role: jewelry design, jewelry creation, presentation design, photography
Prize: 1st Prize Winner
This was the first jewelry design competition that I took part in – and I did so because its theme (Independence) seemed like a great invitation to creating something more than just jewelry.
My approach was to create an object shaped as a necklace that would provoke questions and discussions rather than be worn (even though, in fact, it is quite comfortable).
The necklace is a puzzle – the embellishments on the beads are in fact references to certain events from Polish history. It could be graphically coded dates, music notation, or other symbols – sometimes quite obvious, and sometimes requiring more effort put into finding the right connections.
